One of the good features of
Firefox, is the possibility to use
extensions. And even more so, when there are extensions like
ArchView, the purpose of which is really useful.
Once installed in our
Firefox,
ArchView will allow us to see the contents of
ISO, RAR and
ZIP files before downloading them. To do so, we have to activate the extension (in the icon that is will show when we install it) and click on the extension that we want to investigate.
This will save us a lot of time, because on many occasions we
download files because we think they are one thing, and then they end up being something completely different. With
ArchView we will
be able to make sure that the contents of the download is correct, without having to wait for them to be on our hard drive, and once we are sure, we will be able to
download the full file like we usually do o just one of the files that inside the
RAR, ZIP or
ISO.
ArchView has support for http://, ftp:// and file:// protocols when it comes to opening compressed files, and it can be shown as XUL or in HTML interface, as if it was a
Firefox tab.
Requirements: It works with Firefox 2.0 to 3.6.
